FAQs
Your questions, answered honestly
If there's something else you'd like to know before booking, please just ask — I'm always happy to talk it through first.
What does hypnosis actually feel like?+
It is simply a state of focused attention. You are deeply relaxed but aware of everything around you — very similar to daydreaming or the moments before sleep. Most people are surprised by how ordinary and pleasant it feels.
Will I be under someone else's control?+
No. You are in control the whole time and can open your eyes, speak or stop at any point. Your own ethics, values and beliefs stay firmly in place, so you cannot be made to do anything against your will.
Will I be made to do silly things, like on TV?+
No. Stage hypnosis relies on willing volunteers and audience expectation and has nothing in common with clinical work. You will be treated with respect and your confidentiality safeguarded.
How many sessions will I need?+
It depends on what you'd like to change. Many people find six to twelve sessions covers anxiety or confidence work, while stopping smoking is usually a single session. We review progress as we go, and you are never tied in.
What is the difference between hypnotherapy and tapping therapy?+
Hypnotherapy uses relaxation and focused attention to help your mind work differently. Tapping (EFT) is fully conscious and physical — gentle fingertip tapping on acupressure points while you talk through the feeling. Many clients use both.
Can children have hypnotherapy and tapping therapy?+
Yes, generally from around the age of six provided they have a reasonable attention span. Sessions are shorter and age-appropriate, with a parent or carer present or nearby.
Is it confidential?+
Yes. Everything discussed stays between us, within the ethical framework of the National Council for Hypnotherapy and normal safeguarding obligations.
Where are you based and do you offer online sessions?+
The practice is at Black Jack Street in the centre of Cirencester, easy to reach from Tetbury, Stroud, Fairford and across the Cotswolds. Online sessions are available where they suit you better — just ask.
